A string of mass m = 2.5 g and length 0.75 m is stretched tight between two posts. The tension on the string is 350 N. I pluck the string and it vibrates at the 3rd harmonic. What is the wavelength in air of the sound produced by the string?

(The speed of sound in air is 330 m/s.)

as v=330m/s (in air)
ρ= 0.0025kg/0.75m= 0.003333kg/m
v=√(T/ρ) = √(350/0.003333)= 324.053m/s
f=nv/2L , 3rd.harmonic -> n=3
f= 3*324.053/(2*0.75)= 648.106Hz
λ=v/f = 330/648.106= 0.5092[m] approx
