Take a position on whether or not the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision in Ingraham v. Wright should continue to be the law today. Provide a rationale to support your response

May 2nd, 2015

Ingraham vs Wright ruled that paddling in public schools, without giving the students aprior hearing was constitutional.

when writing your response, you may want to think about:

1. Other court rulings, such as Goss vs. Lopez 1975 which dictated students must be given advanced notice and a chance to defend themselves before suspension.

2. Consider how speach in schools has changed. With social media, students have a much easier way to publically voice thier opinions. Also consider restrictions on that form of speach (cyber bullying rules cause schools to get involved outside of the classroom)

3. Consider whether paddling in schools is still applicable to today.
