Introduction
The first portable cell phone was first seen in April 1973 when the leading engineer at
Motorola Company Marty Cooper made the first call with the most awaited device. The ever
seen before historic innovation was actualized by a call between the head of most known
research institution the Bell Labs and the Motorola engineer. Since then the evolution of cell
phone industry has made drastic changes and has for many years demonstrated not to slow any
soon. In the cell phone evolution history, the huge portable radical boxes have become a major
milestone in the communication industry. Very notable evolution in the communication industry
include short messages service (SMS), cell phone internet connectivity and the gaming
capabilities of a cell phone.
Cell Phone Evolution
For a long time, military personnel has been using common radio carrier that was
invented in 1960 before the cellular system. Working with the same principle as that of radio, the
common radio carrier was capable of sending a voice message via a push-to-talk system. The
radio common carrier system utilized a telephone network and a specific telephone number to
make the communication successful. Another major evolution in cell phone industry was made
by Gekko Gordon through the invention of Motorola dynaTAC in the communication industry.
The cell phone had a screen powered by a light emitting diode that supported a thirty minutes
talk time and a record eight hours on standby. This model was very expensive with an estimated
price of about $4000.
The true portable generation of the cell phone was named clamshell. The manufacture of
