differentiate y=log(4+cosx)

May 3rd, 2015

let
y=log (4 + cos x)
then
dy/dx =d(log (4 + cos x) )/dx

apply chain rule of differetiation
dy/dx=1/cosx * d(cosx)/dx
dy/dx=1/cosx *(-sinx)*d(x)/dx
dy/dx= 4 (-sin x/cos x)
dy/dx= 4 -tan x
