Why dis American's first generation of film school graduates (Bogdanovich, Lucas, Coppola, Scorsese, Spielberg
,etc.) use "nostalgia" as a theme for their early successful movies in the 1970s? What had changed about the audience for American film at that point and how had the radical upheaval and on-going worries of a future nuclear holocaust effected their movie themes? What other genres of movies did these and other recent American director/producers make that helped bring back audiences of all ages in the late 1970s, the Reagan-inspired 1980s, and into the 1990s?
