Some states DNA samples are routinely collected from those persons who have been convicted of felonies. others however, collect DNA from persons who have only been arrested for committing a crime. Why might civil libertarians frown on such policies?
Civil libertarianism is a strain of political thought that supports civil liberties, or which emphasizes the supremacy of individual rights and personal freedoms over and against any kind of authority (such as a state, a corporation, social norms imposed through peer pressure, etc.)
And collecting personal DNA without content is a violation of individual rights and personal freedoms.
Hope this helps!
