Data Management

Proper data backup, planning and continuation strategies are essential for a business
enterprise. They must be instituted simultaneously in order to boost an enterprises probability of
reducing risk and effectively recovery. Every one of these plans must be structured well in terms
of speed, ease of implementation and frequent updates. These elements allow for effective
implementation of each plan separately as well as in conjunction with others. The various
elements of such plans that enhance their effectiveness and appropriateness are discussed in the
subsequent sections.
Good Data Backup Planning
A backup plan refers to the creation of copies of the original files, and storing them in an
external source. This data can be retrieved when need arises. This might be due to loss of data in
the device the data was located in, or when cross referencing of data required. There are two
kinds of backup, the onsite backup, and the offsite backup. The onsite backup is kept in the same
location as the source of the original data (Akhtar, Buchholtz, Ryan, & Setty, 2012). This aids in
the quick recovery of data when it is needed in cases of system crashes, or in a case where
someone mistakenly erases data from the source. Offsite data on the other hand is...
