Since its enactment into law in March 2010, the Affordable Care Act (Obama Care) has
received much criticism from those who believe that the law does not offer any solution to the
current medical stampede in the US. During his 2016 presidential bid, president Trump
advocated for the repeal of the Affordable Care Act where he used this argument as his central
rallying point. Those who oppose Obama Care are primarily Republicans who have vowed and
pledged not to settle until the law is repealed. Opponents of Obama Care can table a sstrong
repeal debate if they can prove that the law increased the insurance costs, the acclaimed coverage
are only transitional and instead offer better approaches that can be deployed to expand coverage.
One of the most belligerent elements of the law that has received much criticism is the
provision that requires all Americans to purchase healthcare coverage cogently, and those who
fail to oblige are penalized. The increased demand for health care coverage has raised the
insurance rates to the point that some can no longer manage to purchase coverage. Furthermore,
the willingness to acquire a medical coverage is a personal mandate, and no one should be forced
to conform to a law that does not offer any benefits. Before Obama Care came into law, there
were more affordable health insurance schemes which Americans would willingly join and pay
less for quality care services.
