I will attach an example file for you which you can clearly understand what you have to do.

1. Write two Journal Responses. I need you to choose two quotes from the chapter 45-51 and use each quote to write down a four-steps Journal Response.

Journal Response Directions:

  1. Write the quote you are responding to in quotation marks.Be sure you include a good portion of the section to which you are going to respond. You must include the page number where the quote is found at the end of the quote.
  2. Summarize the reading’s main idea.Discuss the quote’s importance in the reading selection.Explain why it means something.Does it tell more about a character, setting, theme, plot, problem, or author’s point of view?
  3. Relate the quote to something that happened to you or that you know about, or relate it to a film, play, story, or article you read.Maybe the messages or themes are similar and they discuss the same ideas but do it in different ways.Maybe the writing style is the same as another author’s style and you will then explain how the styles are similar.
  4. Using critical thinking skills, describe your feelings or attitude (thoughts) about what you have read. For example, what conclusion do you make about what you have read? Do you agree with the writer’s point of view or attitude about a topic? How did this quote taken from reading selection make you feel?

2. Write down these 7 Skills

  1. Choose 1 conflict that took place in this week’s reading and give the solution from the book.(Problem and solution pattern)
  2. Choose 2 examples of how a character’s thinking or actions impacted the turning point of the story? (2 examples of cause and effect)
  3. Find the part of the story where the writer showed description.Copy the sentence down underlining the descriptive words. (Description pattern)
  4. What has been the most important part of what you’ve been reading this week?
  5. What is something you’ve learned from your reading this week? This could be personal or academic.
  6. List 2 “lingering questions” you have after completing this week’s reading.
  7. Select a meaningful event and list 4-5 MAJOR steps in order from which happened first to last. (sequence pattern)

3. Choose 3 words from the vocabulary list and write it in following 10 steps ( the vocabulary list picture is in the link which shows above)

  1. Identify the word with page number
  2. Identify the sentence in which you found the word. Type out the full, complete sentence and not just a fraction if it.
  3. Guess at the meaning of the word.
  4. Write the denotation of the word.
  5. List synonyms ( words and phrases).
  6. List antonyms (words and phrases).
  7. Rewrite the sentence from the book IN YOUR OWN WORDS. Do not use the vocabulary word or the dictionary definition. Look to synonyms!
  8. What makes this word important to know?
  9. You may find this word used in these contexts? (places, events, people…)
  10. Use the word in one sentence.

Format for completing the journal responses Journal Entry #1 1. “Everywhere rooms lay open. Doors and windows gaped into emptiness. Everything was free for anyone, belonging to nobody. It was simply a matter of helping oneself. An open tomb.” Schindler’s List, p. 15. 2. After Eli and his family were driven into the Jewish ghetto, the Jews were herded up and shipped off to what they thought were brick factories. At this point many of the people have been sent away. All the people were allowed to take is what they could carry. When the author describes the houses as open tombs, he gives a clue to the fate of the owners. Their lives have been snatched away with no time to prepare. 3. I remember seeing the ruins of a Siberian village on TV. It, too, was an abandoned, sad place. All the toys were left out with the hope of little children returning to play their games, plates of food were left on the tables, and beds were not made. 4. The things left behind tell tales of the ones who flee in haste. They are the ghosts haunting the houses. Some people say things don’t matter, but sometimes, I think, they are only the reminder, the silent cry, begging for violence to end. I feel anger about what makes families so afraid that they must flee very quickly and leave their possessions behind. Journal Entry #2 1. “Everywhere rooms lay open. Explanation & Answer

I cannot complete the assignment without the vocabulary. Please post it as soon as possible and I will get the assignment done for you. Thank you.
Here is the assignment. I got home much earlier than expected. Please let me know if you need me to add or change anything. I may have to read the entire book now as I really got into it. 😀

Journal Entry #1
1. “Maybe you should call V, the Voice again quietly stated. Maybe you should call someone in
recovery. Again, I ignored it.” P. 386
2. After Cupcake has been clean for 69 days, she decides to go out with friends to celebrate. At
first, she orders a coke while her friends order alcohol. She is proud of herself until the craving
for alcohol kicks in. Then she convinces herself and her friends that wine will be ok. This quote
talks about a problem that Cupcake is facing. While she has convinced herself that a sip of wine
is ok, subconsciously, she knows that she should be calling someone so that they can help talk
her out of it as well as remind her why even a sip isn’t ok.
3. I have a cousin who struggles with addiction. Often times, even after being in rehab and
cleaning up for long periods of time, she falls back into the addiction due to hanging out with the
wrong friends and one small step leading to the other. This is very similar to what Cupcake is
going through. While I know that my cousin wants to be clean, I also know that all it takes is not
listening to that inner-voice strength.
4. V set Cupcake up for this moment. She told her that she needed to be comfortable calling
people when she needed help, because this moment would come. Even in her confused and
addictive thoughts, Cupcake knew wha...
