calculate the freezing point of a solution of 2.12gm of naphthalene in 32 gm of benzene.

May 4th, 2015

pure benzene freezes at 5.50 deg C and its Kf is 5.10 degC/m.

molarity = moles/kg = 2.12g/128.2gm/mol/0.032kg = 0.52 m
delta T = (1)(0.52)(5.10) = 2.65
Freezing point will be 5.50 - 2.65 = 2.85 degrees C
