The Probability that an employee at a company is female is .36 The probablitity that an employee is a female and married is .19 Find the conditional probability that a randomly selected employee from this company is married given that she is a female

Probability of random selected employ is married female=P(Female)*P(Married)

=0.36*0.19=0.0684

That is the same answer I got, however the answer in my book says it should be .5278

May 5th, 2015

Oh sorry it was conditional probability. I will do it in a seconde.

May 5th, 2015

P(Female given married)=P(Married given female)/P(female)

=0.19/0.36=0.5278

Yes, actually.

Of the 35 students in a class, 22 are taking the class because its a major requirement, and the other 13 because its an elective. If 2 students are selected at random from this class, what is the probability that the first student is taking the class as an elective and the second student is is taking it because it is a major requirement? How does this probability compare to the probability that the first student is taking the class because it is a major requirement and the second is taking it as an elective ?
