Using the ideal gas law to calculate the mol of a gas at 35°C and 1.5 atm with a volume of  0.5 L

May 5th, 2015

DATA:

Temperature of gas = 35C0 + 273= 308K

Pressure of gas= 1.5atm

Volume of gas= 0.5L

Number of moles of gas (n)= ?

SOLUTION:

Using the ideal gas equation;

PV= nRT

Separating n,

n= PV/RT

the value of R is 0.0820 L atm/mol K

by substituting the values,

n= (1.5*0.5)/(0.0820*308)

n= 0.0296 mol of gas
