Overview of the Most Recent Terrorist Attack Incident
Terrorism attacks are calculated surprise attacks that involve the actual use of
violence, intimidation, coercion, or instilling fear through a threat to use violence against
civilians of a nation with the aim of attaining political, ideological or religious goals. Over
the years the incidents of terrorist attacks have significantly reduced especially on the US
soil. The most recent massive incident occurred on Tuesday, October 31st, 2017 in Manhattan
near the world trade center in New York City where eight people were killed on the spot and
about eleven others were injured before the guy was shot dead by the police (Hayden et al.,
2017).
A twenty-nine -year old man drove a rented pickup track all the way down a busy
bicycle path located along River Hudson, the motorist who was identified by the police as
Sayfullo Saipov. He crashed into a school van then jumped out of the truck running on the
highway waving in the air, a paintball and pellet gun. Reports from witnesses say that the
man was shouting “Allahu Akbar” which is Arabic for “God is great.” The inspired attacker
was suspected to have a collision with the ISIS. Some notes were obtained by investigators
on the track jotted down in Arabic that showed loyalty to an Islamic state. The incident was
the deadliest attack that had happened in New York City ever since the September 2001
attack where 2752 were killed, and 251 injures.
