Running head: LEARNING
For learning to occur, information must first be stored in the human brain. This implies
that the brain is the human organ which is highly responsible for learning. The various parts of
the brain have different functions, all which combine for the learning process to occur. The
cerebral cortex, in particular, makes the human brain unique. It distinctly controls human traits
such as consciousness, higher thoughts, reasoning, thinking, and imagination. It is divided into
four lobes, including frontal, parietal, temporal and occipital lobe, all of which perform different
functions but mainly reasoning and perception. The frontal lobe is associated with mortal skills,
reasoning, high-level reasoning and expressive language. The parietal lobe functions to process
physical information such as touch sense, pressure, and temperature changes. It processes the
body senses. The temporal lobe interprets the language or sound we hear as part of learning. The
hippocampus is located within the temporal lobe and is responsible for memory formation. The
occipital lobe is responsible for interpretation of information and stimuli that one can see. It does
so by receiving and interpreting information from the eye retina. The hindbrain is composed of
structures including the pons and reticular formation. Pons control movement on each side of the
body. Reticular formation controls sleep, alertness, and attention during learning. Information
processing units of the brain are known as neurons which are responsible for trans...
