Privacy and confidentiality are terms that are often used interchangeably but are actually
different. Privacy refers to a person’s right from intrusion into their personal matters and
personal information. On the other hand, confidentiality refers to where personal information
shared by a client to a health professional cannot be divulged to a third party without the consent
of the client. Confidentiality is an ethical issue while privacy is matter of law under common law
(Beeson, Mead, Wood, Goldberg, Shin & Rosenbaum, 2016)
With regard to this issue, there are no clear laws or principles to follow. This is because
Lora is 17 years old and thereby still a minor under the law. The decision to keep confidentiality
