Criminal Behavior Theories
The classical theory of criminology arose to respond to the European arbitrary criminal justice
system in the eighteenth century. It emphasizes that the government is responsible for regulating
and punishing unsuitable behavior by individuals incapable of guiding their own actions,
individuals are rational actors capable to logically ascertain whether the pleasure they derive from
a criminal act surpasses the potential sanction and inhibiting individuals from engaging in criminal
