Messed up on previous question, my apologies...

Use the quadratic formula to solve for x

9x^2-3x-1=0

May 7th, 2015

quadratic formula of ax^2 + bx + c = 0

  is  x = ( - b +/- √(b^2 - 4ac))  / 2a

9x^2-3x-1 = 0

x =  ( - - 3 +/- √(-3^2 - 4*9*-1))  / 2*9

    =  3 +/- √(9 + 36 ) / 18

    = 3 +/- √(45 ) / 18

    = 3 /18   +/- √9*5 / 18

   = 1/6 +/- 3 √5 / 18

  = 1/6 +/-  √5 / 6

  = 1/6 +  √5 / 6    or   1/6  - √5 / 6 .........................ANSWER

ANSWER IS

x =  1/6 +  √5 / 6    or  1/6  - √5 / 6

hope you understood..please message if you have any doubts...thank you
