how can I do a numerical expression for 6 times the sum of 3 and 7?

I dont understand it.

We want to be sure the "sum" of 3 and 7 are is done first.  So, we put that in parentheses (3 + 7).  Then we can multiply by 6.   So we write it like this:

6 x (3 + 7)   or    6(3 + 7)
