how to evaluate the expression 4 + (6-2)

Order of operations in mathematics says to do anything in a grouping (such as parentheses) first.  So in your example, we would subtract 2 from 6 first:  6 - 2 = 4

Next we would add 4:  4 + 4 = 8.

So, 8 is the final answer.
