Trump's Policy Agenda: Repeal and Replace the Affordable Care Act
Trump proposed the repealing and replacing of the Affordable Care Act, normally
referred to as the Obamacare. Accordingly, the House only just approved this act after twenty
republicans voted ‘no' resulting in a final vote of 217 to 213. A similar victory was not replicated
in the Senate whereby they collapsed the approval process by failing to pass various ‘repealcentered’ amendments.
Trump spearheaded the policy and backed by a majority of the Republicans. The
legislation aims at redesigning the prevalent American Health Care system in a way that
insurance coverage is not mandated. In place of the scrapped off mandate of insurance coverage,
the policy would introduce a system dependent on tax credits to encourage citizens to take up
insurance covers within an open market. Another distinction between the Affordable Care Act
(Obamacare) and the Repeal and Preplace the Affordable Care Act is that the former policy put
into consideration issues such as family income, individual’s age, local health insurance
coverage costs and one’s smoking status as a way of determining financial aid. However,
President Trump’s policy considers mainly considers age when basing tax credits. Trump’s
