The novel places blame on a lot of things and drama in the novel derives from it. The novel is saying that in order for the people to ease their depression, blaming someone or something is necessary. The story focused on how Nichole's lie and the authorities' influence affects the opinions of the people. One of the narrators, who witnessed the accident, was Nichole Burnell. She accused Dolores Driscoll, who was the driver, for speeding and according to her, that caused the accident. No one knows that this accusation is whether the truth or not, but in order to satisfy the people, this concluded the issue. It helped the people moved on with their lives but for Dolores, it will be hard for her because whe was the victim of the blame. Another narrator in the story who also witnessed the accident was Billy Ansel...............
