The United States of America is the leading economy in the world. Some factors determine how
strong and vibrant an economy is. The United States economy is well diversified making it able
to absorb economic shocks like the financial crisis in 2008. The United States government is a
stable democracy holding elections every four years. There is no political risk in the United
States. The currency used is the United States dollar that is an international currency supporting
global trade. The United States is home to many fortune 500 companies that are global, a reliable
source of tax revenue to the United States government.
The population of United States is estimated at 323,127,513 (2016) census estimates. The
distribution between male and female indicate male (49.2%) and Female (50.8%), this data
indicates there are more female than male in the American population. The population below
14years is estimated at 59 million and above 15 years-65 years estimated at 207 million. This
indicates that total available potential working population to be 207 million. The population
above 18 years the official voting age is 242 million. The median age in the United States of
America is 37.6 years. It is estimated that the population above 65 years is going to double in the
next 25 years. America has an aging population the median age is going to increase. The aging
population means higher expenditure in health services and social security according to census
report (2016). The official working age is 16 years. The population able to work is estimated at
251million.
