Summary of the Article
The entry of Artificial Intelligence to the legal market has been observed as a threat to the job of
lawyers. This article presents an experiment which involved a competition between the 100
lawyers from London most top-drawer firms and the program known as the Case Cruncher. Both
AI and the humans were given basic facts of hundreds Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) and
asked to predict whether the financial ombudsman would allow a claim. From the submitted
predictions, the program won with an accuracy rate of 86.6% compared to the human accuracy
rate of 66.3% (Cellan-Jones, 2017). Robot lawyers are making entry and are winning in the legal
environment. AI may soon replace some of the grunt work done by paralegals and junior lawyers.
