The court is a government institution that has been tasked with solving legal disputes
between two or more parties. Since its advent in the 1600s, the court system has been charged
with administering justice in criminal, civil and administrative matters in accordance with the
law. This establishment in Jamestown saw the birth of the American court system that we see
today. The court has many purposes but the main one is to dispense justice to those who deserve
it, acting as a watchdog against the breach of rights and freedoms of citizens and punishing those
who violate these laws. It gives a solution to disputes by listening to both defendants and
plaintiffs and ruling in favor of either one and since it is viewed as fair and just, it is always the
last resort in conflict resolution.
