 Why do you think Catholicsm remains such a strong element in the Mexican culture despite the offical opposition of the Mexican government since the time of the Mexican Revolution?

This is  because the evangelism was done to the indigenous Mexicans thus it has its roots in the Mexico culture. this makes it hard for the opposing government from succeeding.

The era of the military conquest in the early sixteenth century saw the Church's huge effort to evangelize the indigenous population of Mexico in what is termed "the spiritual conquest." As the Spanish empire expanded into new territories, the incorporation of the indigenous population was a priority for the crown.
