Kenya is located in east Africa and has a short coastline compared with south Africa which is located south of the continent. The Major geographical features in Kenya are the great rift valley, Mount Kenya in the central pat of the country and Mount Kilimanjaro in the country's border with Tanzania. The country also has several lakes including lake Victoria, Lake Turkana and lake Naivasha. It also has several rivers mainly the Tana and Mara rivers.
South Africa on the other hand has a long coastline stretching from a desert border in the northwest, down the icy Skeleton Coast to Cape Agulhas, then up along the green hills and wide beaches on the coast of the Indian Ocean, to a border with subtropical Mozambique in the northeast. The low-lying coastal zone is narrow for much of that distance, soon giving way to a mountainous escarpment that separates it from the high inland plateau. It also has a high grassland plateau.
