A change management plan and its performance implications in Southwest airlines
Introduction
Southwest airlines deal with the airline industry, and its revenue is obtained from the air
transportation services. The company faces competition from other firms in the air industry. To
gain competitive advantage over the other firms, the organization should provide best airline
services such as good customer care services. Southwest airline has been able to achieve the
competitive advantage through its lower prices and maintaining good customer relationship
through by improving travel services. To improve the critical performance of the organization,
there has been constant change initiated. The change that has been executed is the changes in
technical team leadership and the lineup. The CEO of the company was interviewed in the case
or the change, and he confirmed on the issue. He gave explanations on how the change was
executed and the benefits of it to the South West organization (Jones, 2015).
The purpose for the change
The goal of the change is to ensure effectiveness in operations of the systems of the
company. The key reason for the changes that were executed in technology leadership
department is to ensure the activities of the organization regarding its systems and technology
services are improved. Another reason for the change that was executed is to increase the
performance level of the team (Vowles, 2013).
From the interview with the CEO organizational crisis and performance gap in the
technological department was one of the reasons to execute changes in Southwest airline.
Performance of an organization is very important, and if there is performance gap in the
organizations, the profits of the company start to decline. It was, therefore, essential to execute
