Description
A mother brings her 8-year-old child to the clinic, stating the child “just isn’t breathing right, doesn’t want to play, just lies on the couch — this happens all the time.”
The appearance of both mother and child is disheveled. The child’s wheezing can be heard across the room. When asked if the child is better at any certain time of the day, the mother responds, “It’s like this all the time and has been for the past year — we saw a doctor last year who diagnosed asthma but we don’t have any money for drugs or to come back to the clinic.”

Healthcare issues sometimes get too high to manage. A medical situation can be
overwhelming for the patient in a way that they are unable to handle the bills and other related
issues. The medical staff has had the obligation of offering the patient with the best help which
can be afforded by the hospital so that they are able to regain their health. Some situations call
for the intervention of different organizations in order to help the patients out of their situations.
This concerns most of the cases that involve patients who are unable to handle the bills
associated with their illnesses due to various reasons. The United States has played an important
role in recognizing the need to help the patients who have special needs. In most cases, the
public medical institutions offer services at a reasonably lower cost which can be affordable by
the majority of the patients (Glover, 2015).
In that case, the situation of people getting difficulties in catering for their health needs is
rare. The patients require being bold enough to adopt the different methods imposed by the
government for catering for the health issues. Such arrangements include having a medical
insurance plan which covers the costs of treatment and medication.
Various cases have appeared whereby the insurance coverage does not help in the
catering for the funds. Most of the insurance providers have the setting that ensures that the
duration of bill accumulation does not go beyond certain points. Past this mark, the insurance
company is unable to fund the patient forcing them to rely on the much that their pockets can
afford (Eyal Cohen, 2011). This becomes the danger zone for the patient such as the one
expressed in the case study.
