The best way I can think of to write a good essay to apply for Scholarships and grants is to carry yourself with a professional tone. This means to use proper grammar, spelling, and the appropriate jargon for your paper. Do not use conversational speech, or words such as "don't", "it's", etc, but break them into "do not", or "it is". This will give your reader a professional tone, rather a tone that you would talk to another classmate with. While it seems that using "don't" is part of proper speech, when dealing with someone who is reviewing a scholarship, they want to find someone who can still make their paper sound correct while also providing evidence that they can have a very proper and professional tone. If you have any further questions, feel free to message me. I hope this helps you at least start your essay.
