the enzymatic reaction occur in at least two steps. in the first step, a molecule of the enzyme (E) and a molecule of the substrate (S) collide and react to form an intermediate compound called the enzyme-substrate complex (E-S). this step is reversible because the complex can break apart, yielding the original substrate and the free enzyme. In the second step there is a possibility, the enzyme-substrate complex may or may not be react with additional substance (water, oxidizing or reducing agent, acid or base) to form products (P) which are the release from the surface of the enzyme.
S+ E ------------ E-S
E-S ------------ P +E
