Why were the American Colonies able to defeat Great Britain in the American War for Independence? Could the outcome of the war have been different? How critical was the role of France in the War?

They had a strong fighting spirit which made them not give up in the fight. They were determined to gain independence and self rule

they also received help from France in terms of finances

they had hired germans who helped in the training of their troops and army men.

The British were not willing to over spemd on the war, so they easily gave up leaving the Americans to win

they also used the hit and run gorillar war techniques

they had able leaders like George Washington
