it is a simple alkene reduction or hydrogenation reaction. in this reaction, reduction of unsaturated carbon atoms takes place by the addition of hydrogen. this process is catalyzed by Pd, Pt or Ni metal. the mechanism which i am providing is a general alkene hydrogenation which will be followed as it is:

first the bond between the two hydrogen atoms break down by the catalyst;

H2 + Pd ------- H + H

then the alkyl group gets attached to the surface of catalyst (Pd) and gets hydrogenated
