I know what a square root is but the symbol with the plus sign on top of the subtraction sign confuses me. It makes me think there are more steps involved.

The symbol with the plus sign on top of the subtraction means either the positive value or the negative value can be used as the square root of 4. So there are no more steps involved.

So the answer is +- 2?

Wait, it wasn't 4. It was 0.4
