three glasses of milk and two snack bars have a total of 54 carbs and two glasses of milk and three snack bars have a total of 56 carbs. Determine how many carbs are in one glass of milk and one snack bar.

May 12th, 2015

Let x is carbs in one glasse of milk and y is carbs in one snack bar. The system of equations will be:

3x + 2y = 54

2x + 3y = 56

From the first equation: x = (54-2y)/3

Substitute this into second equation:

(2(54-2y))/3 + 3y=56

108-4y+9y=168

5y = 60

y=12

x=(54-2y)/3=(54-24)/3=10

So, the number of carbs in one glasse of milk is 10, the number of carbs in one snack bar is 12.
