Nickola swam at a rate of 9 km/hr and ran at a rate of 9 km/hr for a total distance traveled of 57.5 km. If he completed the race in 7.5 hours, how long did he take to complete each part of the race?

Since Nickola swam and ran at the exact same rate you can use that rate to find how long it would take him to complete each part. The total distance traveled was 57.5 km. You can then take 57.5 and divide it by 9, which equals: 6.39 hr...

Looking at this problem it is not possible to solve with the given information unless the rate of swimming and running are not the same. They are the same though, so I see no way to complete this problem.

Please let me know if you have any further questions, or more information/class notes to help solve this problem.

He swam at a rate of 4 km/hr, not 9. Sorry typo
