1) Consequences of Mike's failure to report
Mike made a wrong decision by not reporting the spillage and it was wrong of him to
assume that the housekeeping would see it and take care of it. His decision was fuelled by the
fear of reporting late and losing his job. One of the consequences of his decision is that the
spillage ended up causing an accident. The spillage was the reason why the patient slipped,
fell and broke their hip bone ("Allied Helth Community," n.d.). The other consequence of his
action is that he added more work to the hospital. If he had reported the issue, the patient
would not have fallen. Health practitioners are supposed to put effort to eliminate the
probability of accidents happening in the hospital by carrying out their responsibilities safely
or any other duty that ensures that everyone is safe. In this case, Mike put the lives of the
people in the hospital at risk by not reporting the issue. His actions ended up adding more
work to the health practitioners that would not have happened if the spillage was taken care
of immediately he saw it.
