Explain the resonance structures for the sulfite ion, SO32−.

Final Answer

consists of one carbon atom which is sorrounded by three oxygen atoms expressed in a trigonal planar arrangement.the atom with the highest electronegativity in the sulfite ions is sulphur hence it belongs to the center of the diagram hence oxygen atoms bond to it
