Sexually transmitted diseases are usually spread though the entry of a virulent agent into
the body’s epithelial cells and blood stream. The following pathogens gain entry through specific
mechanisms thus;
Neisseria Gonorrhea: the pathogen thrives well in highly moist, CO2 rich environment
and therefore sites of entry during unprotected sexual intercourse are the rectum, urethra, cervix
and the throat. Upon crossing the mucous membranes in these regions, they target columnar nonciliated epithelial cells (Mays, & Teasell, 2014).
Escherichia Coli; this is a bacterial pathogen that gains entry to the human body through
the human intestinal tract and attaches itself to the body’s tissues through molecules called
