Global Perspective On Dress, Culture And Society
Introduction
The dress is a representation of art, and its created with different purposes but majorly to
cover body. Along with food and shelter, clothing it's a basic human need. Although the dress is
worn to cover the body from nudity and adverse weather conditions, social, cultural and religion
wants have come to shape the kind of dress to wear. Culture and society have been in existence
all through from past. Culturally wise, the dress is just like a painting with given colors, symbols,
themes and unity. Dress simply has a more generous and subjective portrayal of social norms,
just like other artworks such as Picasso and Dali. They are associated with some kind of ideas,
emotions or feeling like the costumes in theater house. Historically, the dress was used as a form
of unspoken language in the society, its represented some form of social structure as well as
ranking in society. For instance, the Chinese Qing which represented the great Qing or the
empire of Chinese Qing dynasty.

Even though the social ranking is important in determining the dress code, cultural
customs, geographical setting (rural or urban), gender or Sex Differentiation, religious beliefs,
ethnic belonging, Body Conformation, body growth and the genetic adaptation influence the
kind of dressing.
Historical timeline for the culture and dress:
Cultural variations in human history lay a major role in changing of dressing lifestyle
among different generations of mankind. Culture has never been static, each time it changes
with generation bringing modification in social customs along with new dressing habits. The
traditional dressing of nineteen century is quite different from modern dressing styles in the
twentieth century. This shows that dress is an expression of modernity in culture rather than set
mankind laws. Culture itself is being influenced by political changes, technological changes and
socioeconomic spheres in a society. Therefore, humanity has found different dressing styles to
satisfy diverse cultures, different occasions and different historical times. However, without all
these cultural and other dressing influential factors, dressing style merge in a global perspective
pattern.
Attitude towards women in most Asia countries during early parts of the century, the role
of wife and mother was primarily that of the housewife, her role was to take care of the materials
wants of the family its foods, clothing and the house. Her costumes were a house dress and were
worn at least in the morning by the vast majority of women. But now the role of the wife recently
has been changing with the technical advances. With the help of that, she can take care of her
house and she can work outside of home too. So with the changing of the role we see
corresponding changes in the dress of the wife. The young homemaker instead wears sports or
