There is often confusion about whether crime has increased or decreased in the U.S. over the last few decades. Media reports can make it seem that crime is out of control and on the rise. But, is that accurate or is it just a perception bias?
do you believe that crime is increasing or decreasing, and what factors do you feel might be contributing to that trend?
I believe that crime is increasing, but only because there are so many limitations when it comes to the law. If you look at all of the different types of petty offenses, misdemeanors, and felonies- they cover everything. This is all because someone along the way and in the course of history with the law messed it up... for everyone. Just being loud in a public area could have you arrested. It is all based on where the person is and if there is someone who calls the police, or the police believe there is a crime committed. The judicial system is faulty as it is being run by the rules so much, that it does not always even take the victim's opinion into the case at hand. Crime is only on the rise because of the corrupt judicial system in the U.S. Another idea behind this is because the news covers so many larger incidents/crimes while when looking at the system- numerous people get convicted for crimes every day.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if you have any questions.
