Context Diagram
Introduction:
A context diagram is a way to get an overview of a system. An entity's scope, bounds, and
relationships to other elements, such as stakeholders, are all laid out in this simple diagram. In
doing so, it illustrates how a system interacts with the outside world. Context diagrams are not
meant to show how a system works in great detail. Instead, they provide a clear and concise
diagram of the complete system (MicroBlog, 2022). Requirements documents are used early in a
project to gain consensus on the project's scope. We've outlined the main components of a context
diagram for you below.
System: In the middle of the graphic is a box that stands for the system under study.
External entities: The boxes around the system represent the entities that interact with it. This can
include anybody who interacts with the system in some way, such as customers, suppliers,
partners, or anyone who contributes to or gets data from the system.
Inputs and outputs: In a block diagram, inputs are represented by inbound arrows and outputs by
outgoing arrows. Data, materials, or knowledge are all examples of what may be considered inputs
and what might be considered outputs.
Connectors: The relationships between the system and its environs are represented by connectors.
Lines, arrows, or other symbols represent inputs and outputs between entities.
Use of context diagram:
A system's general structure and possible inputs, outputs, and processes can be better understood
and identified using a context diagram. After compiling this data, a more accurate system model
may be developed, allowing for pinpointing problem regions. A context diagram demonstrates the
interrelationship between a system and its surrounding environment. The first thing you do when
