Description

I need a discussion post for the instructions attached. I also need a reply post to a classmates discussion post. I have included the classmates post. There is a movie that is not necessary to watch. The file is too big to be attached to this post anyways.

Week Four Discussion: Peer-to-Peer Licensing Know-How Introduction Licensing deals are often entered to extend brand recognition and reach. Under trademark law, the licensee’s use of the mark can (and should) inure to the benefit of the licensor. This means that the licensor can protect the use of the mark as used by the licensee as long as the licensor controls the use and quality of the mark. Without such controls in place, the licensee could potentially run away with the brand. In this activity, you’ll analyze what steps can be taken to become a licensee for a particular company, then act like a product scout to propose an example deal. Alternatively, you’ll research and explain a specific area of license law. Objectives • Exploit rights through use and licensing Assignment Instructions For the initial post, complete the following 4 steps: Step 1: Watch the following movie on Licensing Intellectual Property. You do not have to watch movie if you do not think it is necessary. • Licensing IP 3-24-14, 3.17 PM.mov (Movie is attached to post) 84 MB Step 2: Select one of the topics in scenario A and sign up for it here: goo.gl/vYWz2x. Each student must choose a different scenario so there are no repeats of topics. I have signed up for and chosen Universal Studios. Scenario A, The Product Scout, involves explaining how to become a licensee of a major sports league, agency, or studio, and imagining a cool new sponsorship or licensing deal for it. • ILP.4.3LicensingConsultant060116ScenarioA.pdf (PDF is attached to post) Step 3: Write a “how-to” guide (or you can make a presentation or video "how-to") for your classmates. Provide a detailed explanation of your chosen topic as described in the scenario PDF file. Explain it as if your classmates know absolutely nothing about the subject. Step 4: Response Post: Look at your classmates’ posts. Offer suggestions or other commentary meeting the RISE model. Classmates Post: Christopher Houston Tue Dec 12 @ 11:00 pm PST I decided to choose Affiliate Marketing because of my experience in marketing as an affiliate for Twitch.tv. Me and my teammates recently made twitch affiliate which is essentially like a partnership with the website where the better we perform and the greater impact we have on others; the more money we will receive. Knowing that I wanted to look into if the same thing applies to affiliate marketing in its general state. So, my research led me to discover that affiliate marketing is essentially performance-based marketing that rewards each affiliate. Essentially the idea is that the more one’s efforts pay off, the better success that they will have. It’s even looked at as a pretty good way to make money as you don’t have to physically do much work except promote a product by marketing said product and getting people to take interest in the product. So, looking into this showed me that what I do is essentially already affiliate marketing as my job is to get people to show interest in me by viewing my channel and potentially clicking on links provided for services. I think the best tip I can provide is to look over your possible options and weigh each and every idea in front of your before committing. I also recommend that you have your own drive because you are your greatest influence in the marketplace. Also realize that this is a very competitive market space where there are tons of others with the same idea as you so do your best to win out others options. Deliverables Due • • • • Enter an initial post by Wednesday (11:59 pm Eastern). Minimum 3 paragraphs or 5 slides. Enter a response post by Sunday (11:59 pm Eastern) to at least one of your classmate’s initial posts or response posts. Minimum of one paragraph and follow the RISE Model. Include references in APA format. Ensure posts are written in a professional manner with proper spelling and grammar. Scenario A: The Product Scout Companies may seek each other out directly to enter into licensing or cross-licensing deals, or they may use the services of entrepreneurs such as licensing agents and product scouts to help procure deals. Licensing agents represent licensors who own property to place, while product scouts seek new products/properties for their clients (licensees) to exploit. In this scenario, you will be a product scout investigating how to become a licensee of a famous brand. Select one of the licensors below or suggest one of your own (but get my advanced approval). As a product scout, I want to become a licensee for Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi
so that Universal studios can be able to adapt it into a film. In this case, I would have to work
with the publishing house Alfred A. Knopf as well as the creators per the publishing agreement
the two parties have. I would contact the publishing house first so that I can be able to liaise with
Chimamanda’s agents to start negotiations. If I present my case well, it is possible that the
publishing house will be...
