Name of production
American Idiot is a sing-through stage adaptation by American punk rock band, Green Day. It is
the group's seventh album. The producer of American Idiot is Rob Cavallo. The album was first
released in the United Kingdom on September 20, 2004, and in the USA the following day by
Reprise Records.
Green Day formed their band in 1986 with Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt as the lead
vocalist and guitarist, respectively. Another member is Tre Cool, a drummer who replaced John
Kiffmeyer just before recording the band's second album-Kerplunk-in 1991. Jason White, a
guitarist, left the group in 2016. Other works include Nimrod, Insomniac, Warning, and Dookie.
Although the band can be traced back into the 1990s, American Idiot found its popularity with a
younger audience in 2004 and sold more than six million copies. Works that came after
American Idiot include 21st Century Breakdown (2009), Uno, Dos, and Tre, which were all
released in 2012.

the most basic and starting point of any theatrical performance. This presentation is based on a
script done by the current band members. They base every performance of this studio album,
including the Los Angeles tour, on the script. Also, the presentation is a process in that the
director, actors, dancers, musicians, and technicians collaborate on the script and plan. The

product is the presentation of all songs or works on the album. It is the result of the process
described above. Theatrical work requires an audience, and this is seen in American Idiot where
the actors or musicians are presenting their work before an audience.
Genre
Basing on American Idiot and other works, Green Day is a rock-pop-punk group. The band
usually performs to a large group, act with a lot of strength and energy, and wear dark and
colorful clothing as seen in is this presentation. The elements are explained below
Performance
Green Day perform as if they are in an old storage building or factory. They are maximizing on
the minimal space they have on stage, indicating that they know they are a big band. The
audience must step back to see how energetic th...
