Ethics is integral to science because it requires scientists to act with respect for human rights. It is what prevents cruel practices that degrade humans or animals, and keeps science safer for everyone. Skepticism is integral to science because it keeps scientists searching for new and better explanations for the world around us. Skepticism is essentially the start of the scientific method, because it is the reason why scientists form hypotheses to be tested in experiments. Science needs skepticism to refute misconceptions and faulty theories or paradigms. If no one ever wondered why Newtonian physics couldn't explain the patterns of black body radiation, then we wouldn't have quantum mechanics!
