The purpose of this paper is to evaluate potential business situations by assessing
the budgeting process and the ethical dilemmas that determine decisions to “make” or
“buy.” The objective is to determine differences between operational budgeting initial
approval and variance cost about the actual amount due to changing variables. When
considering Peyton Approved Budget Variance Report had budgeted $472,750 for
direct materials and actual expenditures are $480,500, indicates unfavorable conditions
caused by management under-estimating. The difference between static budgeting and
actual results outlined budget variance of $7,750 for materials. Understanding the
impacts of favorable and unfavorable variances, nonfinancial performance measures
and associated ethical decisions is the bases of producing this paper.
