Jenny Craig is a center-based weight loss company that offers its clients advice and
structure that helps members of its program to lose weight. The company uses its programs with
menus, which allow its members to have a unique food pallet coupled with an active lifestyle to
lose and maintain the lost weight. The members of the program have been assigned consultants
who they can have one-on-one interactions with, either at their centers or on phone to help them
during the weight lose period. The company is a service-based industry and human resource is
their most important asset and resource. Consultants make up the largest part of the workforce,
having each member of the program assigned his/her own. This means that the success of the
company is dependent on the consultants quality work done. The need to have motivated
employees, who in turn produce effective results, means that there be in place a compensation
and benefits package that makes them feel appreciated and valued at the company.
In most service-based industries, salaries and remunerations have remained almost at par
in most companies. The benefits that are associated to each post will be determined with the
technical or managerial requirements associated with that position. Managers, supervisors and
coordinators usually have the highest salaries and benefits followed by middle level
management. The lower level job positions salaries are usually the lowest, with increased
technical work involved and may be tired to a commission payment system. The quality of
service delivered will be equated into benefits and commissions in most cases, benefits will
