The debate of legalizing or not legalizing marijuana has been a long one taking years and
centuries. The regulations on its sale can be dated to 16th century. Difficulty in choice has been
experienced because some states have legalized it while others still take the stance that it should
not be legalized. Some of these states prefer it being legalized for medicinal values while other
countries prefer it for recreational use. Based on some of the research and evidence presented on
a number of studies, I feel that marijuana should be legalized for medicinal use only with reasons
provided below.
The first reason is that it is very helpful in acting as a painkiller. In the United States for
instance, marijuana is taken largely for the purpose of easing pain. A number of studies have
shown that this drug is quite effective particularly against neuropathic pain which is pain
