  • In the analysis, apply theories and models from the text and/or readings
  • Support conclusions and /or assumptions with specific references to the case and/or the readings

IV. Decision Criteria and Alternative Solutions

  • Identify criteria against which you evaluate alternative solutions (i.e. time for implementation, tangible costs, acceptability to management)
  • Include two or three possible alternative solutions
  • Evaluate the pros and cons of each alternative against the criteria listed
  • Suggest additional pros/cons if appropriate



V. Recommended Solution, Implementation and Justification

  • Identify who, what, when, and how in your recommended plan of action
  • Solution and implementation should address the problems and causes identified in the previous section
  • The recommended plan should include a contingency plan(s) to back up the ‘ideal’ course of action
  • Using models and theories, identify why you chose the recommended plan of action – why it’s the best and why it would work

Harley Davidson is a motorcycle company which was established in 1903 before the
beginning of the world wars. The founders of the firm were William, Walter, William Harley,
and Arthur Davidson. Their first venture was in a shed where they built their first three
motorcycles. They also invented a trademark which included the manufacture of the then fastest
transport means with the ability to move at 60mph. this was a venture that gained recognition at
the time before an intensive competition arose some years later. Therefore, they had to become
innovative in order to cope with the competition and remain in the market.
The demand for the motorcycles increased during the World War 1 whereby the
government ordered the acquisition of these engines for their soldiers. As a result, the company
made a great fortune from the orders (Erichsen, 2015). The survival of this company was
supported by the fact that the government was buying motorbikes for its soldiers. Therefore, as
