To whom it may concern,
It has once in a while been complaining about the utilization of excessive power
by the police. There have been officers in the police department or correctional facility
agency have been conducting themselves in an unprofessional way while on duty. This
memo goes for identifying the current ethical dilemmas in the police department,
outlining responsibilities of ethical leader, discussion on how some decisions on dealing
with officers using excessive force may impact the culture of police department and
lastly, lay down some strategies or recommendations that will help to improve the
relationship between the community and the police department while addressing this
ethical issues.
There is a serious issue with leadership and corruption among police officer in the
police department or correctional facility agency today. The biggest ethical dilemma
facing the police department is the choice between serving their professional duty in their
job and cases of excessive use of by some police officers while serving their duties. The
other ethical dilemma is that the complaints raised on the use of excessive force have
been dismissed without investigation due to nepotism bias and corruption on department
leadership. The investigation and conclusion of criminal law ethics, in light of the
perceptions of the complaints on the utilization of excessive power by police in their
operations, have brought about the recognizable proof and classification of department’s
unethical dilemmas into two classes, proficient versus individual morals and basic
reasoning versus morals.
