### Question Description

 In printing an article of 48,000 words, a printer decides to use two sizes of type. Using the larger type, a printed page contains 1,800 words. Using smaller type, a page contains 2,400 words. The article is allotted 21 full pages in a magazine. How many pages must be in smaller type?

let's call x the number of pages printed using the larger type and y the number of pages printed using the smaller type.

You can write that x+y=21 and 1800*x+2400*y=48,000

We have to solve this system of equations.

y=21-x so 1800*x+2400*(21-x)=48,000 then 1800*x+51,400-2400*x=48,000 and 600*x=2400 Finally x=4 and y=21-4=17
